Officer Mark Zylawy served the Portland community with unwavering dedication and a deep sense of duty. Throughout his career in law enforcement, he was known not just for his professionalism on the job, but for his genuine passion for improving the communities he served.
Officer Zylawy believed deeply in the transformative power of education. He often spoke about how giving young people access to educational opportunities could break cycles of hardship and build stronger, more resilient communities — communities he dedicated his life to protecting.

The Z-Man Scholarship Foundation was established in his honor, carrying forward his vision. We are committed to providing Portland area students with access to additional educational opportunities and instilling in them a lifelong commitment to learning and community service, so that each is prepared to live and serve as a responsible citizen.
Our foundation operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN: 80-0398701), funded by the generous support of donors, community partners, and those who believe in Officer Zylawy's mission.

We introduce the Community Service Award, recognizing students whose contributions to Portland reflect Officer Zylawy's spirit.
$100,000 Milestone Reached
The foundation surpasses $100,000 in total scholarships awarded, expanding our reach across the greater Portland area.
Z-Man Memorial Scholarship Launched
Our flagship annual scholarship is renamed in direct tribute to Officer Zylawy, becoming the most prestigious award we offer.
